Indonesian Tonce Anton, 45, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment and three strokes of the cane for overstaying after his immigration pass expired, a violation under Section 15 (1), Chapter 17 of the Immigration Act
The prosecution was conducted by the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD)Prosecutor Hadiyatul Majeedah binti Awang Usin before Magistrate Syaffina binti Shahif.
The case surfaced during the recent INRD’s Operasi Sakat 169/2023 at Mukim Kianggeh.
The department reminded the public, especially employers, to ensure their employees passes are valid and work under their designated position.
