Overseas apprenticeship programme aims to prepare local graduates

The exchange of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and collaboration agreement (CA) between the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) and Mindtrex Academy Sdn Bhd for TechXPLORE Digital Apprenticeship Programme aims to provide opportunities for local graduates to experience real information and communication technology work environments overseas.

Chief Executive of AITI Haji Jailani bin Haji Buntar, as the Co-lead for the Manpower Industry Steering Committee Working Group for ICT Sector, attended the event at D’Anggerek Hotel.

The MoU and CA was exchanged between Acting Assistant Chief Executive of the Industry Development Group of AITI Siti Zaraura binti Haji Mohammad and Managing Director of Mindtrex Academy Pengiran Mohammad Khairi bin Pengiran Haji Metussin.

Haji Jailani also presented awards to Cohort 1 of the TechXPLORE Digital Apprenticeship Programme. Five locals have been selected as the inaugural cohort of TechXPLORE, based on their potential to excel in their ICT fields.

The cohort comprises Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computer Science graduates Mohamad Adib bin Maimon and Nurliyana Khairunisa binti Zuliskandar, Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computer Game Development graduate Md Danial Hakim bin Haji Abdul Wahab; Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computing graduate Muhammad Wafiy Syahmi bin Shamsuddin; and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Islamic Media and Communication Technology graduate Nurulhuda Asilah binti Haji Asli.

They began an onboarding session last month and will head to Bandung, Indonesia, for their six-month placement on October 27.

The programme is an initiative by AITI to provide experience and enhance the employability and industry-readiness of local graduates. During the apprenticeship, they will work under the supervision and guidance of industry experts, engaging in practical, hands-on projects.
