Over BND290K raised for Brunei orphan fund

The SMS Brunei Prihatin for the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans (DANA) raised BND298,044 during its nine-month campaign, from December 2022 to September 2023.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, in his capacity as Deputy Chairman of the DANA Board of Trustees, received the funds in a ceremony at An-Naura Hall of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex in the capital yesterday.

Telecommunications companies provided the short-message-service for subscribers to channel their contributions while Radio Television Brunei (RTB) disseminated the information to the public through its radio and television networks.

The information was also broadcast at local cinemas.

DST Chief Executive Officer Radin Sufri bin Radin Basiuni handed over a mock cheque of BND256,165, as well as DST’s contribution of BND10,000.

Progresif Chief Executive Officer Nurul Haniah binti Haji Jaafar handed over a mock cheque of BND 38,995 and later presented Progresif’s contribution of BND2, 000.

Meanwhile, General Manager of Marketing of Imagine Sdn Bhd Debbie Too handed over a mock cheque of BND2,884.

Also present at the ceremony were Permanent Secretary (Planning, Landuse and Environment) Dr Dayang Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of DANA and members of the Board of Trustees. – Rokiah Mahmud
