Some 84 individuals joined the International Solidarity Day for Palestine event, organised by the non-governmental organisation (NGO) Global Shapers Community Bandar Seri Begawan (GSC BSB) at The Core Lecture Theatre, Universiti Brunei Darussalam on December 9.
The gathering aimed to amplify the voice of Palestinian people and the lives lost.
The night saw a poetry reading by Dina Alias titled Children of Palestine and a dialogue focused on the live experiences of Gazan PhD candidate in Syariah and Law from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Jehad Mhanna, moderated by Tiwin Aji.
A video presentation showcasing Gaza’s Fights for Freedom provided context to the dialogue. The dialogue covered topics, delving into the human narratives of Palestinians, emphasising their shared humanity, resilience and faith.
It also brought attention to crucial subjects like women’s access to hygiene.
Local vendors, Little Miss Shaky Hands, Jomtesliyur.bn, Let’s Coee and Kittinah Bakes contributed 100 per cent of the night’s proceeds to Brunei Darussalam’s Humanitarian Fund for Palestinians in Gaza 2023. GSC BSB expressed hope to magnify the importance of standing in solidarity with Palestine and emphasised the profound impact of individual support.
