Over 20,000 receive His Majesty’s personal gift

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday consented to bestow personal gifts to 20,728 subjects, comprising individuals with special needs, orphans and the poor as well as those receiving monthly welfare assistance, to aid them in their preparations for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities.

It is the 13th time the monarch is distributing personal gifts with the objective of alleviating financial burdens of the underprivileged in the Sultanate.

The distribution yesterday and today will see 13,563 individuals from Brunei-Muara District, 3,375 from Belait District, 2,883 from Tutong District and 907 from Temburong District receive the gifts.

To ensure the well-being of various parties, His Majesty’s personal gifts are being delivered to the recipients’ residences.

Some 103 teams comprising 515 uniformed personnel, representatives from Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB) and Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah are involved in the distribution with involvement and cooperation from government-linked companies (GLCs) including Datastream Digital Sdn Bhd (DST).

According to a press statement, the cooperation of various parties is highly appreciated to ensure the distribution of His Majesty’s personal gifts to the under-privileged groups is implemented in an organised manner and in line with the monarch’s wishes to see the vulnerable groups in the Sultanate receiving care and affection from His Majesty in conjunction with this year’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
