Over 200 orphans in the Brunei-Muara District received donations during various ceremonies.
Some 125 orphans comprising pre-school and Primary 1 religious school students in the Brunei-Muara District were feted during an iftar ceremony organised by The Rizqun International Hotel in collaboration with the Islamic Studies Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) on Saturday.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman was the guest of honour. Spouse Datin Hajah Nahriah binti Haji Awang Asbi also participated.
Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan and members of the Abdul Razak Holdings’ Board of Directors and Director of The Rizqun International Hotel were also present.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Tahlil and Doa Arwah led by Head of Religious School Division Md Ahsanul Azmi bin Haji Sarbini.
The minister presented donations to the orphans, with the ceremony continuing with iftar and mass Maghrib prayer.
Meanwhile, 120 orphans from Mukim Kota Batu received donations during an event at Kampong Sungai Besar Mosque as part of the the International Women’s Club of Brunei (IWCB) annual Ramadhan donation drive yesterday.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the imam of Kampong Sungai Besar Mosque, followed by the presentation of donations by Ungku Datin Hajah Fanzah binti Haji Osman and IWCB members.
The cash donations and goody bags were collected during fundraising events throughout the year, as well as members’ personal contributions.
The TIBA Cooperative Association (KOTIBA) and Tanggungan Berhad also organised a donation ceremony for 62 orphans from Kampong Tanah Jambu, Kampong Salar, Kampong Salambigar, Kampong Sungai Hanching, Kampong Sungai Tilong and Kampong Manggis.
The donations were handed over by KOTIBA Deputy Chairperson Hajah Normah binti Haji Ibrahim at the Kampong Tanah Jambu/Salar Farmers Muafakat Hall.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by Surah Yaasiin and Doa Tahlil for KOTIBA members who have passed, led by KOTIBA Board member Haji Abdullah bin Lakim.
Also present were the village heads and acting village heads, KOTIBA Board members and Kampong Tanah Jambu/Salar Farmers Muafakat Hall committee members.
The donation ceremony is an annual goodwill activity of KOTIBA and Tanggungan Berhad to enliven the holy month of Ramadhan and the upcoming month of Syawal.
