The Ministry of Education (MoE) recently concluded a badminton tournament at the Youth Centre held in conjunction with the 34th Teacher’s Day celebration.
Fadzillah bin Haji Mohd Seruddin won the men’s single category while Haji Md Ishak bin Haji Ahmad and Md Zuno Kartono bin Haji Ali topped men’s double B2 and above category.
Hasli Othman and Md Hasan bin Haji Untong won men’s double for C3 and below category while Ali Mustapha bin Haji Abd Hamid and Haji Mohammad Ishak topped veteran men’s double category.
Mariam binti Haji Ali and Sakinah Haji Abdullasan won the women’s double for C2 and below category while Chan Hazney binti Abdul Hariz and Sabarinah binti Haji Mohamad Sa’at won women’s double for C3 and above category.
Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the MoE Dr Chin Wei Keh was the guest of honour and presented prizes to the winners.
A total of 118 male and 38 female participants from the MoE and the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), including educators from the Islamic Studies Department, Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan and the Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, competed in the tournament.
The tournament aimed to promote sports participation among MoE and MoRA staff while fostering a sense of camaraderie between the two ministries. The event was organised by the Department of Co-Curriculum Education. – Rokiah Mahmud
