A total of 1,052 kilogrammes of rubbish were collected during a beach cleaning campaign at Taman Rekreasi Tanjong Batu on Sunday.
The community-driven event, organised in conjunction with Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei’s (TAIB) 32nd anniversary celebration, aimed to promote environmental awareness, sustainable practices, and the spirit of unity among communities.
Perbadanan TAIB’s Managing Director Datin Hajah Hasnah binti Haji Ibrahim said, “I can still recall a time when our beaches were mostly littered with just driftwood. Back then, plastic waste was rarely seen on our beaches.
“My children never have the privilege of seeing plastic-free beaches, unless the world pulls together to address the issue.”
