Brunei Shell Joint Venture (BSJV) companies celebrated 158 employees for their continuous commitment and contribution, amounting to more than 5,000 service years, during the BSJV Long-Service Emblem at the Indera Samudra Grand Hall, The Empire Brunei on Saturday.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof was the guest of honour.
“I am proud to share this special night with the talented, hardworking people who have powered Brunei for so many decades. Through these years, you have dedicated your time, your effort, and your perseverance every working day to fulfil one mission: to power Brunei,” said Country Chair of Shell Companies in Brunei and Managing Director of Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) Agnete Johnsgaard-Lewis.
“Although it is an accomplishment to discover, it is also an achievement to sustain our business for more than 90 years, while contributing towards realising Brunei Vision 2035 in creating a prosperous and sustainable future for the Sultanate,” she added, recounting the companies’ first journey with the discovery of oil in 1929 and how it has helped shaped the companies and country.
Speaking on behalf of the emblem recipients, Shapiee Hassan, shared his career journey from midstream to upstream industry, from onshore to offshore, alongside the many technological advancements and people development in his 40 years of service.
Acting Permanent Secretary of the Department of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office Pengiran Haji Jamra Weira bin Pengiran Haji Petra; Acting Managing Director and Director of Human Resource and Administration at Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam Haji Kula bin Haji Metasan and members of the BSJV Companies Board of Directors were also present.
