Orthotic and prosthetic services relocated

Orthotic and prosthetic services of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital has been transferred to the Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC) and will start its services including consultation on August 14.

The announcement was made yesterday by Ministry of Health in a statement.

According to the ministry, orthotic (braces and splints) and prosthetic (artificial legs and arms) services enabled individuals with disabilities to improve their quality of life and become more productive, capable and healthy.

The Orthotic and Prosthetic Unit provides medical equipment and support for bodies such as artificial limbs and splints. With orthotic and prosthetic, users will have more opportunities to participate in work environment, learning and social activities. The transfer of Orthotic and prosthetic services to PJSC hopes to bring wider access to facilities efficiently for citizens and individuals in need of the services. – James Kon
