Orphan scheme rewards outstanding students

Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) handed over BND9,000 to 15 students yesterday as part of the Excellent Students Incentive Award Scheme for Orphans 2021 (Skim Hadiah Galakan Pelajar Cemerlang Anak Anak Yatim bagi tahun 2021).

Handing over the contributions on behalf of BIBD was Managing Director of the Strategic Development Capital Fund at the Investment Division of the Ministry of Finance and Economy Junaidi bin Haji Masri in his capacity as BIBD director.

The recipients comprised orphans registered under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) who excelled in their General Examinations in 2021.

The event was organised by BIBD with the support of the MCYS.

Five GCE ‘O’ Level students received BIBD Savings accounts worth BND800 each.

Meanwhile, 10 students who obtained excellent results in the Primary School Assessment Examination received BND500 each under the scheme.

BIBD Deputy Managing Director Irwan bin Lamit along with BIBD senior management were present.

Acting Director of Social Services at the MCYS Hajah Noridah binti Haji Abdul Hamid and senior officials from the ministry also attended.

The Excellent Students Incentive Award Scheme is part of the nank’s dedication to being a Partner in Progress and give back to the community.

In past years, the presentation of rewards under the scheme was carried out concurrently with the National Level Orphans Donation Presentation Ceremony. However, in view of COVID-19, this year’s ceremony was held separately.
