The Labour Department in the Belait District found five offences committed by employers during a series of operations on March 26.
The inspection in Kampong Sungai Bakong uncovered several offences including employers’ failure to provide written service contracts.
Law enforcers also found four offences: failure to provide public holidays, failure to provide annual leave, and employees working in positions different than stated in their documents.
If found guilty, the employers will be liable to a compound fine of up to BND1,000 for each offence, and be brought to court and prosecuted upon failure to pay the fine. – Lyna Mohamad
