The Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD), through the Law Enforcement Division Bandar Seri Begawan, carried out an operation in Mukim Kilanas recently.
A foreign national was arrested for allegedly working for a different employer and overstaying in the country after his immigration pass had expired.
The department also reported that Thi Lai Vo, a 36-year-old Vietnamese woman, was sentenced to three months in prison and fined BND1,000 for overstaying. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional four-month prison sentence.
The prosecution was made before Magistrate Nur Eleana binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Hairol Arni and conducted by INRD prosecuting officer Hadiyatul Majeedah binti Awang Usin.
