Various violations were uncovered during the joint operation Operasi Sapu Bersih conducted by the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) targeting shops and foreign workers’ quarters at the Tutong Central Mall and Pekan Tutong. Royal Customs and Excise Department officers detained six individuals for possessing cigarettes under Section 146(1)(d) of the Excise Order 2006.
Meanwhile, the Labour Department recorded seven violations under the Employment Order 2009 including unpaid overtime, lack of rest days, exceeding work hour limits, absence of public holiday entitlements, unpaid annual leave, unhygienic accommodation and breaches of labour licence conditions. No violations were found by the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) or the Religious Enforcement Section.
The evidence and the suspects were brought in for further investigation. The operation involved 25 officers and personnel from Tutong Police Station, four personnel from the Royal Customs and Excise Department, 11 officials from the INRD and 14 personnel from the Labour Department, including the Religious Enforcement Section.
