Young Professionals Network (YPN) Brunei recently organised an online discussion supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The ninth edition of Leadership Circle, themed ‘What it means to be a leader’, attracted 51 participants.
The discussion, moderated by YPN Co-Founder Fatin Arifin, was part of the organisation’s initiative to convene thought leaders, individuals in leadership roles and those in managerial positions to share insights, frustrations and best practices.
The mentor of the session was Nex.us Sdn Bhd’s career coach in the Case Management Division Siti Jariah Abu Bakar.
In the first part of the session, Siti Jariah discussed what it means to be a leader, touching on the importance for leaders to be part of the team, instead of relying on subordinates to do all the work.
She also emphasised that leaders need to be open, approachable, adaptable, and keen to listen to their subordinates.
