The Labour Department continued its ‘Operasi Kelinga’ by targeting shops in Kampong Limau Manis and Kampong Sungai Hanching recently.
A shop in Kampong Limau Manis was found to have committed seven offences under the Employment Order 2009, such as not providing employment contracts; not giving off days; exceeding the maximum number of working hours; not granting annual leaves; not providing emergency equipment; and violations of foreign worker’s licence.
A shop in Kampong Sungai Hanching meanwhile was found violating three offences under Employment Order 2009 such as not granting public holidays; unauthorised work placement; and violations of foreign worker’s licence.
If found guilty, the employers will be fined BND1,000 for every offence and be brought to court. – Azlan Othman
