Oggy managed to claw back the Best of the Best title in the Belait District’s annual cat competition for local and mixed breed, organised by the Women’s Institute of Brunei Darussalam.
Oggy previously won the Best of the Best title back in 2022. She also won the largest cat award this year, and placed first in the Persian category.
The competition saw the twelve cats compete in various categories, which include their respective species of Persian, Siamese, mixed and normal breeds.
Cats were judged by a panel comprising members of the institute on several criteria, including health, size, fur and uniqueness.
Event chairperson Hajah Julia binti Chee said the categories highlighted the cats’ best aspects while fostering an appreciation for the efforts and care made by their owners.
The spouse of the Acting Belait District Officer Khairunnisa binti Abdul Ghani, the guest of honour, presented the winning cats and owners with their prizes.
Previous title holder for the Best of the Best in 2023 Yayang received an award for the most photogenic cat of the competition and placing second in the Siamese category.
Meanwhile, Alya, Molly, Yuan, and Tiara also won the Healthiest Cat, Most Beautiful Fur, Most Beautiful and Most Unique Cat awards, respectively.
Molly came in first for the mixed breed category, while Commander and Alya placed first in the Siamese and normal breeds.
The competition was held by the WI to mark the 78th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. – Daniel Lim
