Some 30 government officials attended an information sharing session with the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) at Jalan Airport Lama, Berakas yesterday.
The delegation was led by Acting Assistant Director of Information Department Sastra Sarini binti Haji Julaini. NDMC Director Colonel (Rtd) Muhd Harith Rashidi bin Haji Muhd Jamin and senior officers of the centre welcomed the delegation on arrival.
During the session, Sastra Sarimi expressed hope that the meeting would strengthen collaboration among public relations officers of ministries with NDMC.
Ainaa Zafirah binti Haji Abdul Manap of the Planning and Analysis Division in her briefing on disaster management, shared the centre’s vision to building a resilient society. The delegation also visited the Disaster Command Centre, where Assistant Superintendent of the Fire and Rescue Department Muhammad Sahdan bin Abdullah Sungkai provided insights into the mechanisms used to manage disasters on both national and global level.
The delegation was briefed on the application process, deployment of manpower and assets from supporting agencies in disaster preparedness, response and recovery operations. – Rokiah Mahmud
