The Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) seized a contraband haul during recent operations in Kampong Rimba and Kampong Sungai Kebun as well as routine checks at the Sungai Tujoh Control Post in the Belait District.
The first operation on January 24 targeted STKRJ Kampong Rimba where personnel detained a 33-year-old local man for allegedly being in possession of contraband comprising 1,250 cartons and seven packets of cigarettes, four vapes and cash amounting to BND4,438.17 and SGD76.10 believed to be proceeds from contraband sales.
A second operation on January 24 in Kampong Sungai Kebun detained a local woman, aged 43, for the alleged offence of possessing contraband comprising 132 cartons and 471 packets of cigarettes, 84 cans and a bottle of alcohol as well as two units of vape.
Meanwhile, the RCED detained a 31-year-old local man at the Sungai Tujoh Control Post on January 25 for the alleged possession of 335 cartons, 30 packets and 60 sticks of cigarettes as well as 30 cartons and 48 cans of alcohol.
The contraband was seized and the suspects brought to the law enforcement office for investigation. – James Kon
