    ‘O’ Level, IGCSE results are out, says Ministry

    The Ministry of Education (MoE), through the Department of Examinations, released the Brunei-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination results yesterday.

    At the national level, 5,738 candidates sat for the exam in the October/November 2023 session, out of which 5,621 or 97.96 per cent were school candidates and 117 were private candidates.

    Out of this number, 1,135 or 19.78 per cent of the candidates scored eight ‘O’ levels and IGCSE above while 2,512 or 43.78 per cent got five ’O’ levels and IGCSE above and 2,946 candidates or 51.34 per cent got minimum four ‘O’ levels.

    At school level, 1,135 or 20.19 per cent candidates obtained at least eight ‘O’ levels and IGCSE above, 2,512 or 44.69 per cent got minimum five ‘O’ levels and IGCSE above while 2,946 or 52.41 per cent got minimum four ’O’ levels.

    Out of the 4,783 government school candidates, 806 or 16.85 per cent got eight ’O’ levels and IGCSE above, 1,926 or 40.7 per cent got five ‘O’ levels and IGCSE above and 2,306 or 48.21 per cent got minimum four ‘O’ levels.

    Meanwhile, out of the 838 candidates, 329 or 39.26 per cent got minimum eight ’O’ levels and IGCSE above, 586 or 69.93 per cent got minimum five ’O’ levels and IGCSE above and 640 or 76.37 per cent candidates got minimum four ‘O’ level for the October/November sessions.

    About 18 out of 49 schools made up of 13 government and five private schools shown a rise in the Brunei-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ and IGCSE session October/November 2023, where statistic showed a rise between 0.32 per cent and 42.31 per cent compared to 2022.

    The numbers of candidates who achieved Grade A*/A in eight to 10 are 62 or 1.10 per cent candidates, 20 of were from the government schools while performance rate at national level in core subjects showed between 5.01 per cent and 79.97 per cent obtaining Grade A-C and a total of six other subjects, at least 50 per cent obtained Grade A-C.

    Students who sat for the exam can get their result slips at respective schools, while private candidates may collect their result slips at the Department of Examinations’ counter on the ground floor of One-Stop Centre, Block C of the MoE during working hours.

    Candidates wishing to sit for the GCE ‘O’ Level and IGCSE examinations, the May/June 2024 session is open until February 15.
