The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) organised a cultural roadshow yesterday at Lambak Kanan Primary School in Jalan 49.
The roadshow, intended for the student and staff was attended by Acting Director of Culture and Arts at the MCYS Haji Abdoh bin Haji Damit as the guest of honour.
“Students may not be familiar with the local culture and traditions, therefore this roadshow can be useful for them,” said Assistant Headmistress Ruzanna binti Zainal Abidin.
A traditional gulingtangan performance was held to kick-start the event. The students learnt to play traditional musical instruments during the roadshow and became acquainted with local delicacies. The roadshow is also part of the school co-curriculum activity to involve students in the community and familiarise them with the country’s arts and culture.
The Culture and Arts Division, Museums Department, Malay Language and Literature Bureau, History Centre and Youth Development Centre participated in the roadshow by showcasing traditional ethnic attires and accessories, musical instruments and handicraft.
