No luck with virtual football either

James Kon

The country’s lack of football success extends to the virtual arena as Brunei’s run in eFootball at the Commonwealth Esports Championship ended at the group stage with defeats to England and Gibraltar recently.

Esport athlete Ahmad Syauqi bin Haji Junaidi put up a spirited battle against England, drawing the first game before losing in a penalty shootout. He lost the second game of the best of three match, 2-1.

Against Gibraltar, Ahmad Syauqi lost the first game, won the second, before conceding the last match.

Nigeria and Ghana forfeited their matches against Brunei as they were not able to play, leaving the country in third place in Group A.
