A fire in a storehouse at the Sungai Bera Industrial Area in Kuala Belait was extinguished by firefighters within 45 minutes yesterday. No casualties and injuries were reported.

Some 45 firefighters from SPARK Fire Station, Seria Fire Station and Kuala Belait Fire Station, led by Deputy Commanding Officer of Operation ‘B’ Branch Superintendent of Fire and Rescue (SFR) Ajahrin bin Mail, rushed to the scene after the fire broke out around 1.56am.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), five fire trucks were deployed.

Public and private agencies also helped to contain the fire using a forklift and a bulldozer. The cause of the fire and damages are under investigation.

The FRD reminded the public to ensure that buildings and properties are equipped with firefighting equipment including fire extinguishers and fire blankets.

Electrical appliances must be switched off when not in use, while storage of flammable materials should be kept in a secure and monitored location, the FRD added.
