According to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), 11 firefighters from Pengkalan Batu Fire Station with two firefighters from Jerudong Fire Station led by DSO Haji Safar bin Haji Judin responded to the incident at around 3.15pm.

At the scene, firefighters immediately moved in to extinguish the fire, which blazed in the living room and hallway of the house. It took seven minutes to put the blaze under control. The cause of the fire and damages are still under investigation.

The public is reminded to make sure their homes are equipped with dry-powder fire extinguishers, along with fire blankets and battery-operated smoke detectors.

Installation of wiring and electrical equipment should be done by qualified technicians.

Electrical appliances must be switched off after use or before leaving the house.

In case of gas leaks, windows and doors should be opened for ventilation and the gas regulator should be covered and unplugged when not in use.
