No end to poor water quality

Water quality at Jalan Batu Bersurat and its surroundings has been in a poor state. From what I understand, the situation has been going on for years. Photos of the discoloured water from the tap which went viral recently proves the point.

Our situation has gone from bad to worse in the past several days with the water getting muddier and smelling like sulphur (not an expert but that’s the closest description I could think of). Even with a proper water filter system, we can see some deposit remains even after regular flushing. I can’t imagine what it would be like for residents who do not have a filtering system.

As a result, doing the laundry is a daunting task and we do not use water from our taps for cooking. It is also so frustrating to see our children’s school uniforms turning yellow after a regular wash.

We seek an explanation from the authorities if there are any changes or improvements made in addressing this ongoing water issue. As far as I am concerned, I have not read or been told of any plans to upgrade the country’s water facility.

It is not right to assume that everyone would be content and satisfied with written apologies and press statements on treating the symptoms whenever there is a water supply disruption, as opposed to addressing the root cause(s).

I hope the authorities will look into this matter on a more serious note.
