Mass Maghrib and Isyak prayers, recitation of Surah Yaasiin and special Doa was held on Tuesday night at mosques, suraus and religious halls to mark Nisfu Sya’aban for 1444 Hijrah.
The special focus was at Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim attended. Surah Yaasiin was recited three times after Maghrib prayer followed by Doa for longevity, to be spared from calamity, and receive sustenance.
Also present were directors, senior officers and staff at the MoRA as well as mosque congregants.
Muslims are encouraged to intensify their pious acts during Nisfu Sya’aban, which is the 15th day of Sya’aban, a night full of blessings, rewards and answered prayers.

The Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) marked Nisfu Sya’aban for 1444 Hijrah simultaneously across all MinDef and RBAF suraus including Pulau Baru-Baru Mosque with the focal event at Surau Ad-Difa’, Bolkiah Garrison.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof attended the event.
Also present were Acting Commander of the RBAF Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Saifulrizal bin Abdul Latif; Acting Permanent Secretary at the MinDef Haji Amiruddin bin Haji Mohammad Hassan; senior leadership, officers and staff of the MinDef and the RBAF.
The event began with the mass Maghrib prayer, Sunnat Hajat prayers and mass recitations of Surah Yaasiin three times.
The event continued with a Doa to mark Nisfu Sya’aban and concluded with mass Isyak prayer.
The event aimed to encourage officers and personnel of the MinDef and RBAF to heighten their deeds, seek forgiveness from Allah the Almighty and blessings during the night of Nisfu Sya’aban.
