Newest electric car hits Brunei shores

China’s leading electric vehicles (EVs) manufacturer BYD (Build Your Dreams) is looking at making a huge impact in Brunei‘s electric car market with the launch of the BYD ATTO 3 next Saturday.

The news of BYD entering the Sultanate with the debut of BYD ATTO 3 was announced by Maju Motors Sdn Bhd Managing Director Chan Key Hong during a press conference yesterday.

Maju Motors has been appointed as the sole distributor of BYD cars in Brunei Darussalam.

Chan Key Hong expressed, “Today marked the beginning of a new era for Maju Motors and for the whole country because we are bringing in one of the best EVs in the world.

“BYD stands for Build Your Dreams where they create innovation and technology to bring better life for everyone. Today, China has already brought out so much new innovative technologies and taking a lead in the global market,” he said.

Maju Motors Marketing manager Jennifer Law said, “BYD is a global leader in four major industries – in auto, rail transit, renewable energy and electronics. The company currently has more than 30 manufacturing sites and more than 40 offices worldwide. The new EVs can be found in more than 400 cities and 70 countries globally.”

Product specialist Ryan Phua explained that the EV car is the most awarded electric SUV with 18 awards worldwide. The individuals behind the creation of BYD ATTO 3 are Chassis Tuning Chief Expert Heinz Keck, Design Director Wolfgang Egger and the Global Interior Director of BYD Michele Jauch Paganetti.

At fully charged, the ATTO 3 can travel a total of 480 kilometres (km) and its acceleration is at zero to 100kilometres per hour in 7.3 seconds. It has 210 horsepower (HP) and 310Nw of Torque. There is no carbon dioxide (CO2) emission and the vehicle energy consumption is 16kwh/100km.

The BYD ATTO 3 uses the Blade Battery technology featuring the highest level of battery safety in the auto industry. The battery is environmentally friendly throughout its entire service life from initial production to being 100 per cent recyclable upon its decommission. – James Kon
