    New village heads, penghulu nominated

    Awangku Amirnur Aminuddin bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Salleh was nominated as village head of Kampong Lambak Kiri, Mukim Berakas ‘A’ during a ceremony at the Lambak Kiri Secondary School hall yesterday.

    Kampong Lambak Kiri was under the administration of the village head of STKRJ Lambak Kiri and the surrounding area.

    The role of village head of Kampong Lambak Kiri is a new established post by the consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

    Legislative Council (LegCo) member and Village Head of Kampong Belimbing Yang Berhormat Haji Daud bin Jihan, Brunei-Muara District Officer Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim and Administrative Officer Grade I at the Ministry of Home Affairs Izyan Nayli binti Haji Abdul Aziz were present at the ceremony.

    Awangku Amirnur, 37, was the sole candidate for the new position.

    In a similar ceremony, Muhammad Adib bin Pehin Datu Indera Setia Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Sulaiman was nominated as the new village head of Kampong Panchor Tutong at the Seri Kenangan Hall, Tutong District Civic Centre Complex yesterday.

    Muhammad Adib, 32, obtained 130 votes, while the other candidates Asmalee bin Haji Mohamad, 51, obtained 29 votes and Mohammad Adnani bin Haji Ibrahim, 54, obtained 43.

    LegCo member Yang Berhormat Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan who is also the Village Head of Kampong Sengkarai, Acting Tutong District Officer Mohammad Sofian bin Haji Basri, MoHA senior officials, mukim penghulus in the Tutong District, village heads and acting village heads under Mukim Tutong as well as residents attended the ceremony.

    In the Belait District, 43-year-old Mohamad Zairul Halfi bin Talip was voted the new penghulu of Mukim Seria at the Belait District Office Seria branch yesterday.

    LegCo member and Village Head of Kampong Bukit Sawat Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann and Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad witnessed the final counting of the votes.

    Head of the District Division at the MoHA Jaimah binti Tuah, as well as the candidate’s family, friends and supporters were also present.

    The result will be forwarded to the Board of Appointment, Discipline and Procedures for Mukim Penghulu and Village Head at the MoHA for the selection process.
