Residents of STKRJ Lorong Tiga Selatan, Seria cast their vote in favour of sole candidate Haji Sadin bin Ibrahim to be their new village head yesterday.
The 67-year-old was a City and Guilds of London Institute graduate and previously held an acting position as village head.
The voting for the new village head began on January 10 through the PMKK e-voting mobile app, with physical voting held yesterday.
The ballots were counted and finalised at the Seria branch of the Belait District Office once voting was closed.
Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad oversaw the counting of the vote.
Based on the result, 82 voted in favour with one additional vote from the mobile app. Three voted against and no invalid votes were recorded.
Legislative Council member and Village Head of Kampong Bukit Sawat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann, representative from Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) Mohammad Hazeeq bin Arsad, as well as penghulu and village heads from across the Belait District were present at the ceremony.
The result will be forwarded to the Board of Appointment, Discipline and Procedures for the Mukim Penghulu and Village Head at the MoHA. – Daniel Lim
