Known for its toughness and durability, the highly anticipated all-new Land Cruiser 250 Prado has finally arrived at NBT (Brunei) Sdn Bhd, the authorised distributor of Toyota vehicles in the country, following the launching ceremony held yesterday night at the Toyota Beribi showroom.
Available in two variants, the VX and the TX, the iconic sport utility vehicle (SUV) combines Toyota’s renowned durability and reliability, carrying the tagline ‘Timeless Legacy’.
NBT (Brunei) Managing Director Haji Ahmad Omar bin Haji Hussin, General Manager of Sales and Marketing Muhammad Clovien bin Abdullah Timpoh along with Baiduri Finance Berhad Acting General Manager Haji Mohamad Rayme bin Haji Bakri and BIBD At-Tamwil Berhad Managing Director Haji Mohd Said bin Haji Zania attended the unveiling event.
The TX variant is a robust option with practical features and a classic design, while the VX variant offers a premium experience with advanced technology and luxurious touches.
Both variants are powered by a 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine delivering 201 horsepower and 500Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This powerful combination ensures superior performance both on and off-road.
The VX variant stands out with additional features such as auto multi-terrain select (MTS), which optimises driving performance across various terrains. It also has a slightly higher top speed of 170 kilometre per hour (km/h) compared to the TX’s 165km/h, providing a more dynamic driving experience.
The advanced suspension system, comprising a double-wishbone front suspension and a four-link rear suspension with a lateral control arm, enhances comfort and stability on all surfaces.
Built on Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, the Land Cruiser 250 Prado benefits from improved rigidity, ensuring better handling and reduced cabin noise.
In comparison, the VX variant boasts the signature Prado grille, dynamic auto-levelling LED headlamps, and 20-inch black alloy wheels. The VX further enhances its premium look with roof rails, side-step illumination, and piano black trim on key exterior elements, while the TX incorporates silver trim for a rugged yet sleek aesthetic.
Both variants showcase a trapezoidal fender design and effective off-road styling, combining functionality with a bold, sophisticated presence.
Inside, the Land Cruiser 250 Prado offers a luxurious and sophisticated experience. The TX variant is equipped with an eight-inch infotainment display with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the VX variant features a larger 12.3-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, 10 speakers, and a wireless charger.
The VX also includes a head-up display, a digital inner mirror for enhanced rear visibility, and a power tilt and telescopic steering wheel. High-quality black leather seats elevate the cabin’s ambience, while a slimmer A-pillar, lowered cowl, and beltline offer wider visibility for all occupants.
Comfort and connectivity are vital in the Land Cruiser 250 Prado. The vehicle features a wider third-row walk-in space for easier access, ensuring a comfortable boarding and alighting experience.
The VX variant enhances passenger convenience with power-folding third-row seats, a power back door with a kick sensor, and additional luxury touches such as illuminated door pockets and a cool box in the centre console.
The TX offers manual controls for third-row seats and a spacious layout designed for versatility.
Both options provide ample room for passengers and luggage, making them ideal for family trips, adventurous journeys, or daily use.
Both variants include eight airbags, including a front passenger knee airbag. The Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) suite includes cutting-edge features such as a pre-collision system with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane departure alert, adaptive cruise control, and road sign assist.
Hill-Start Assist ensures safer navigation on inclines and in busy environments, while anti-lock braking system (ABS) and vehicle stability control (VSC) enhance control in challenging conditions.
Equipped on the VX variant is a peripheral monitor camera with an underfloor see-through view, providing enhanced visibility and situational awareness.
The Land Cruiser 250 Prado is built for adventure, featuring a 4WD drivetrain that ensures superior traction in all conditions. The VX variant’s auto MTS system allows drivers to optimise the vehicle’s performance for different terrains such as sand, mud, and rock.
Both variants offer a generous ground clearance of 215 millimetres, ensuring the ability to tackle rugged paths with ease. Despite its rugged capabilities, the Land Cruiser 250 Prado remains efficient, with a fuel consumption rate of 7.9 litres per 100 kilometres, making it economical for long-distance journeys.
