Netflix brings a documentary series exploring elite sprinters and their journeys to become the world’s fastest athletes.

BEVERYLY HILLS COP 4: AXEL F

One of the most anticipated Netflix Original movies for 2024 is the new Beverly Hills Cop film. After years in development and an extended production period, the movie brings together familiar and fresh faces in the franchise. Eddie Murphy returns to his iconic role as Axel Foley, teaming up with a new partner to uncover the threat against his daughter’s life.

Joining Murphy are Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylour Paige, Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot, and Kevin Bacon, promising a star-studded cast for this long-awaited sequel.

THE IMAGINARY

Netflix will stream The Imaginary in select regions from early July 2024 as part of a new multi-film partnership. Directed by Yoshiyuki Momose, this Japanese film centres on Rudger, a boy brought to life by the imagination of a girl who has lost the ability to love.

DESPERATE LIES (SEASON 1)

A new Brazilian drama series follows a woman who becomes pregnant with twins by two different men, leading to complex complications. As she tries to keep her family together, secrets begin to mount, threatening to unravel everything she holds dear.

EXPLODING KITTENS (SEASON 1)

Based on the card and Netflix mobile games, Exploding Kittens is set to hit our screens with a new adaptation led by showrunner Matt Inman. The upcoming series features a talented voice cast including Tom Ellis, Sasheer Zamata, Suzy Nakamura, Mark Proksch, Ally Maki, and Kenny Yates.

BLAME THE GAME

Netflix Germany’s new comedy film, Blame the Game, is set to premiere globally in mid-July 2024. Starring Dennis Mojen, Janina Uhse, Edin Hasanovic, and Anna Maria Mühe, the movie revolves around a family games night where a young man joins as the new, earnest boyfriend. However, tensions rise when the ex-boyfriend unexpectedly appears.

T P BON (SEASON 2)

T P Bon is a forthcoming Japanese Netflix Original sci-fi anime, based on Fujiko Fujio’s manga Time Patrol Bon. Originally serialised over 45 years ago in Monthly Shōnen World, it spanned five volumes until July 1986, followed by a 1989 anime film adaptation.

Animation studio Bones, known for hits like My Hero Academia and Mob Psycho, handles production. Masahiro Ando (Ghost in the Shell) directs, with music by Michiru Ōshima (Star Wars: Visions).

SKYWALKERS: A LOVE STORY

Another documentary arriving on Netflix in July 2024 is Skywalkers: A Love Story, a film that should be approached with caution if you suffer from extreme vertigo. Directed by Jeff Zimbalist alongside co-director Maria Bukhonina, the documentary follows a daredevil couple as they embark on a global journey to climb the world’s final super skyscraper and execute a daring acrobatic feat on its spire.

FIND ME FALLING

Netflix presents a new romantic film featuring ageing rock star John Allman. Seeking solitude on Cyprus to revive his career, he encounters unexpected disruptions. Directed by Stelana Kliris, starring Harry Connick Jr and others, the film has had minimal promotion beyond Netflix’s TUDUM website.

LALIGA: ALL ACCESS

Netflix has partnered with La Liga, Spain’s top-tier football league, to produce an exhilarating new docuseries titled LALIGA: All Access. The series will delve into the unfolding drama of the 2023/2024 La Liga season.

THE DECAMERON (SEASON 1)

Kathleen Jordan brings us a new historical comedy set during the Black Death, exploring eccentric characters and the class divide. The series delves into how the elite survived during this grim era. Starring Zosia Mamet, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, and Tony Hale.

KLEO (SEASON 2)

The critically overlooked German thriller series “Kleo” returns for its second season nearly two years after its initial streaming debut.

MOUNTAIN QUEEN: THE SUMMITS OF LHAKPA SHERPA

Lucy Walker directs a compelling documentary expected to make waves in awards season. Premiering at the Toronto Film Festival, it chronicles the life of Lhakpa Sherpa, who overcame gender discrimination to become Nepal’s first woman to summit Everest.
