Brunei Darussalam’s new daily COVID-19 cases continued to decline to 420 cases per day in the past week from an average of 578 cases per day, the previous week.

Some 62,348 antigen rapid test (ART) results were uploaded to BruHealth within the week and 4.7 per cent were positive.

These details were revealed by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar during a press conference yesterday.

Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) at the Ministry of Health (MoH) Dr Ang Swee Hui was also present.

The minister said 385 new cases were reported yesterday where 384 were from ART screenings and one from 262 RT-PCR laboratory tests in the past 24 hours.

There are no cases in Category 5 needing treatment in the intensive care unit while two patients in Category 4 require respiratory assistance and are under close monitoring.

As of August 14, the vaccination rate of the Brunei population with three doses is 76.1 per cent while 8.5 per cent were administered four shots.

Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham urged the public to upload ART results – whether positive or negative – to BruHealth to help the government monitor the spread of COVID-19 in the Sultanate.
