Maju Motors Sdn Bhd, the authorised distributor of BYD in Brunei hosted the media launch of the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i Super Hybrid. The new model is the first BYD vehicle to feature the company’s latest DMi (dual mode intelligence) technology, which combines a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) system with a 1.1-litre per kilometre (L/km) combined fuel and battery consumption as well as 1,100km range.
The launch ceremony in Jalan Telanai was officiated by Maju Motors Managing Director Chan Key Hong and Executive Director Stanley Lim Hock Ghim.
Chan emphasised the significance of the launch, noting that the BYD Sealion 6 represents a new revolution in plug-in hybrid mobility. He highlighted the vehicle’s innovative technology and its potential to contribute to a more economical future for Brunei.
Media representatives had the opportunity to experience the Sealion 6’s features during the launch event.
The BYD Sealion 6 is equipped with a 1.5-litre engine and an electric motor, offering a total range of up to 1,100km and a combined fuel and battery consumption of 1.1L/km. The vehicle’s ‘Blade Battery’ provides an all-electric range of up to 100km, and the engine acts as a range extender to recharge the battery.
The Sealion 6 features a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 15.6-inch rotating infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as a 10-speaker ‘infinity’ sound system.
In terms of safety, the Sealion 6 is equipped with advanced driver-assist features, including Di-Pilot, a 360-degree view camera, a radar system and full-speed adaptive cruise control.
BYD offers an eight-year battery warranty, a six-year vehicle warranty and a complimentary BYD home charger with the Sealion 6. The front wheel drive ‘dynamic’ variant is available in five colours. – Lyna Mohamad
