New education system a crux for some parents

Five months have passed since the integrated education system was first introduced. For parents with young children, it has been an uphill battle trying to impress our superiors while at the same time, being forced to devise a way to sneak out of the office to fetch our kids at 3pm daily.

More often than not, our superiors would put on their sour faces at the sight of us making our “escape” because we are paid to work instead of coming up with an exit strategy every day.

While there is an option to leave the children under the supervision of their teachers until the workday is over, a lot of us are uncomfortable with the arrangement because we believe that teachers need a break too. After a long day of teaching, I doubt a lot of them look forward to staying back a couple of hours more due to the new education system.

Of course, it is less of a hassle if parents have the disposable income to hire a driver to do the school runs on their behalf, but the truth of the matter is, not all of us are in such a privileged position.
