More than 60 high-ranking officials of ASEAN TVET Council (ATC) members, including government body delegations from 10 ASEAN member nations, attended the official launch of the new ATC homepage.

The delegations included ATC Chair Singapore, ATC Vice Chair Thailand, and non-government ATC focal points from the ASEAN Future Workforce Council (AFWC), the ASEAN Confederation of Employers (ACE), the ASEAN Trade Union Council (ATUC), and the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Vocational Education and Technical Training (SEAMEO VOCTECH).

The ceremony held on May 30 in Bangkok, Thailand, was broadcasted online during the opening of the second ATC Regional Policy Dialogue on ‘Labour Market Information for Better TVET Policy’.

The ATC webpage was officially launched by Centre Director of SEAMEO VOCTECH Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar, marking a pivotal milestone for the regional centre as not only the knowledge hub for SEA-VET.net but also integrated and complemented with the ATC webpage to supply the cross-sectoral body with TVET-related information and ATC content.

The centre director said that together with the ATC inaugural chair, TESDA Philippines, and with the support of the SEAMEO Secretariat and GIZ-RECOTVET, action was taken to implement item 5.2 under the ATC Work Plan and develop the ASEAN TVET Council Webpage within SEA-VET.net.

Following the launch was the second series of the regional policy dialogue focussing on ‘Labour Market Information for Better TVET Policy,’ guided by the ATC 2021–2030 Work Plan.

The forum provides an opportunity for mutual learning among ATC members and partner representatives as the parties exchanged TVET policies and good practices in the ASEAN region.

The dialogue that centred around Labour Market Information (LMI) for Better TVET Policy was held through seven specialised sessions, including three plenary sessions on topics such as ‘Envision LMI that strengthens TVET policies’, ‘Findings of the regional mapping on LMI in ASEAN,’, and ‘Utilising for TVET policy-making, sharing practises (from selected countries)’.

ATC members and TVET representatives also participated in an internal organisational development workshop to improve projects and partnership coordination and to instill further commitment to achieve results as agreed in the inter-sectoral body’s work plan.
