    New appointees vow to serve mukims, villages

    The newly-appointed penghulus and village heads in the Tutong District yesterday vowed to fulfil their roles and responsibilities in taking care of the villagers’ welfare and helping to develop the social economy in their mukims or villages.

    Penghulu of Mukim Pekan Tutong Salim bin Haji Othman said, “I would like to convey my gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam for my appointment.

    “His Majesty in his titah highlighted that the tasks and responsibilities are a form of trust.

    “Therefore, I will do my best to fulfil the duties and responsibilities as a penghulu.

    “Among the initiatives that I would like to implement is to further unite people in the villages of Pekan Tutong as well as promote prosperity, harmony and security by planning cleaning campaigns, helping the underprivileged, conducting religious activities, One Village One Product activities and creative activities involving residents and youth.”

    Meanwhile, Penghulu of Mukim Ukong Haji Mohammad Danial @ Tekpin bin Ya’akub thanked His Majesty for his appointment.

    “The appointment is meaningful as I have been entrusted by the Government of His Majesty. I will work hard to implement initiatives and activities to unite the mukim and
    its villages.”

    Village Head of Kampong Danau Haji Mahmud bin Haji Johari also thanked His Majesty for the appointment. “I will do my best to fulfil my duties. I will also try my best to develop my village, especially for the youth who are still unemployed, single mothers and targetted groups to earn an income and to further develop the One Village One Product initiative.”
