A fleet of 30 new ambulances was incorporated into the nation’s emergency services to meet an increasing demand following a launching ceremony yesterday.
Over the past five years, emergency calls have increased by an average of 10 per cent a year, said Acting Head of Emergency Medical Ambulance Services Noor Hazmah binti Rosli.
She said paramedics and dedicated ambulance staff have answered over 73,000 emergency calls over the past few years.
Noor Hazmah said the new vehicles will replace old ambulances, as well as raise the number of ambulances from 19 to 34 units.
“An ambulance is not just a vehicle; it is a symbol of hope and resilience. It reflects the unwavering dedication of the paramedics who work tirelessly and do not know the meaning of being tired to save lives,” she said. “These new ambulances include the latest advances in technology, ensuring that pre-hospital responders have the equipment they need to provide best care to victims at the scene,” she added.
