Nationwide ceremonies were held last night to mark the migration of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) from Makkah Al-Mukarramah to Madinah Al-Munawwarah and to usher in the new year 1446 Hijrah of the Islamic calendar.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah attended the main ceremony in the Belait District at the RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque.
Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad; head of Religious Officer in Belait District Mohamad Aliyani bin Ismail; and officers and staff from government agencies in the district also participated.
Themed, ‘Nurturing the Mind,’ the ceremony began with Doa Akhir Tahun 1445 Hijrah led by RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque Affairs Officer Abdul Qayyum bin Haji Aminuddin, followed by mass Maghrib prayer.
RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque Affairs Officer Abdul Qayyum led the Sunnat Hajat prayers, followed by the recitation of Doa Awal Tahun 1446 Hijrah, and concluded with a mass Isyak prayer.
Meanwhile, similar events were held at the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in the Tutong District. Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid participated. The ceremony at Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque in Temburong District saw Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha participating. – Daniel Lim & Azlan Othman
