Nationwide prayers and religious ceremonies will be held today at select mosques across the four districts to mark the 39th National Day, celebrated tomorrow.
Mass Maghrib and Isyak prayers, the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Doa Kesyukuran will take place starting at 5.45pm.
In the Brunei-Muara District, the main focus will be the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque.
Other gatherings will take place at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong, Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Mentiri, Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque in Kampong Jerudong, Mohamed Bolkiah mosque in Kampong Serusop, Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque in Mukim Sengkurong, Al-Muhtadee Billah Mosque in Kampong Sungai Kebun, Setia Ali Mosque in Pekan Muara and Perpindahan Lambak Kanan Mosque.
In the Belait District, gatherings will be hosted at Mohammad Jamalul Alam Mosque, RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque and Pekan Seria Mosque.
In the Tutong District, the gathering will be held at Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Pekan Tutong while in the Temburong District, the gathering will take place at Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque in Pekan Bangar.
Yesterday, a working committee visited the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque to oversee the preparations.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman; Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad; and Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan were present.
Also in attendance were Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar and other committee members.
Members of the public wishing to attend are requested to perform an antigen rapid test (ART) for COVID-19 before attending the ceremony and upload the results to the BruHealth app, and show the results to the receptionist or committee member on duty.
Individuals with high fever, cough, flu or breathing problems are advised to skip the ceremony.
