Nationwide Dikir Dabaie competition winners crowned

Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in the Tutong District won the men’s category while Mukim Saba Religious Hall in Kampong Ayer took the top spot in the women’s category at the nationwide Dikir Dabaie competition for mosque takmir committee members, Muslimah congregants and mosque youth at Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque in Pekan Bangar, Temburong District yesterday.

Acting Director of Mosque Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri presented prizes to the winners of a religious competition organised to mark the Sultanate’s 40th National Day celebration.

The Mosque Affairs Department, through the Imarah Division in cooperation with mosque takmir committee members and congregants of Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque and mosque youth, organised the event with the objectives of discovering new talent and promoting efforts in widening Islamic propagation.

It also aimed to encourage youth to engage in Zikir, Selawat and supplication through Dikir Dabaie as well as to realise the aspiration of a Zikir nation.

Some 13 teams took part in the competition, including six women teams. – Azlan Othman
