    National Youth Day Awards nominees registration on until June 5

    The Secretariat of National Youth Day Award held a briefing at the Theatre Hall of Brunei-Muara District Office yesterday to disseminate information on the National Youth Day Award 2023 for the upcoming 18th National Youth Day celebration.

    Chief Officer of Youth and Sports Hajah Noor Maslina binti Haji Sulaiman delivered the briefing followed by a talk on the registration process for the award by Mohamad Ali Noh bin Haji Masri.

    A sharing session by a recipient of the award in 2021, Senior History Officer under the Library and Learning Division of the Brunei History Centre Muhammad Syahmi bin Halimshah was also held.

    Among the attendees were Acting Assistant Brunei-Muara District Officer Pengiran Kamal Ariffin bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Yassin and Legislative Council members Yang Berhormat Amran bin Haji Maidin and Yang Berhormat Mohamad Ali bin Tanjong.

    Four categories are being contested for the National Youth Day Award. The first is the Excellent Youth Award recognising and appreciating youth who have provided excellent contributions in any fields and saw successful efforts in bringing glory to the country. In addition to the regional and national level, outstanding achievements obtained at international level are also a priority in the fields of religion, sports, education, entrepreneurship, science, technology, culture and arts.

    The Meritorious Youth Service is a recognition and appreciation given to youth actively involved in volunteerism in the fields of religious, community, sports and education. The Young Youth Leaders is a recognition of excellent services, provided by young leaders in advancing the youth movement in various fields whether religious, social, sport and education. It is also a continuous honour in producing visionary and wise youth leaders.

    The Excellent Project for Youth (PCUB) is a recognition given to youth projects in various fields that have successfully become an aspiration and model to community development.

    The Excellent Project for Youth in the Social Economic Field is an award for innovative projects that develop and advance agencies, organisations, associations or youth movements. It is also an advantage if the project opens up job opportunities and contributes to the country’s youth and economy.

    The Excellent Project for Youth in the Field of Healthy Lifestyle aims to promote health and leisure sports in empowerment and healthcare to the community.

    The projects must be able to provide awareness and instil a healthy culture as well as increasing understanding on the importance of maintaining good health.

    The requirement for submission of the awards’ nominees is open only to citizens and permanent residents of Brunei Darussalam, recognised in any movements or organisations and must be aged between 15 and 35 for the categories of Excellent Youth Award, Meritorious Youth Service and Excellent Project for Youth.

    Meanwhile, for the Young Youth Leaders category, the nominees must be between the ages of 15 and 45. A letter of recommendation from any party or an individual is also needed. The nominees must not be previous winners in the same category.

    The application form must be completed and attached with relevant documents. Incomplete applications and not meeting the requirement will not be considered. Information can be obtained from www.hbk.gov.bn. The closing date for submission of nominees is on June 5.
