Brunei secured their first bronze medal at the 21st Malaysian Games (SUKMA XXI) 2024 in Kuching, Sarawak through Walid Lachkar in wushu on Wednesday.
The national wushu exponent accumulated a total of 9.580 points in the men’s changquan event.
Walid’s success in being awarded the bronze medal also marks his first major honour at the highly-prestigious Malaysian Games.
Pulau Pinang won gold and silver with a total of 9.620 and 9.596 points, respectively.
The event saw 24 participants.
Sarawak Head of State Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar presented the prizes to the winners while Brunei Darussalam national contingent Chef de Mission Haji Mohamad Rosfazilah bin Haji Yusly presented the mascots. – Fadhil Yunus
