The national swimming team received a sponsorship boost following a T-shirt handover ceremony at the Aquatics Centre of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas yesterday.
The sponsorship highlighted local apparel manufacturer Aewon Brunei’s support to the development of swimming and served as an encouragement towards the national swimmers.
The national team comprising Hayley Wong, Zeke Chan, Joel Ling and Sharmeen Md Mharvin have been selected to take part in international competitions this year.
Team Manager for the World Championships Linda Lai received the t-shirts on behalf of the Brunei Darussalam Swimming Association, presented by Aewon-Sherwood Protective Apparel (B) Sdn Bhd General Manager Justin Hong.
The national swim team is scheduled to depart the Sultanate tomorrow for the 2023 World Aquatics Championships at the Marine Messe Fukuoka in Fukuoka, Japan.
The team will be accompanied by national head coach Wu Na who oversaw training preparations yesterday.
The swimming team will also participate in the Commonwealth Youth Games scheduled to take place in Trinidad and Tobago and the Southeast Asian Age Group Swimming Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia next month. – Fadhil Yunus
