Brunei Darussalam’s obstacle course racing (OCR) athlete Awangku Muhammad Habibullah bin Pengiran Haji Jufri secured a bronze medal in the 20-29 Years Age Group in the Ninja World Cup Asia 2023 at the ArCovia City in Pasig City, Manila, the Philippines recently.
Awangku Muhammad Habibullah secured a place in the podium behind Filipino duo Ellie de Guzman and Joshua Sanopal who won gold and silver respectively.
He said, “It was my first time participating in the OCR Ninja World Cup Asia and honestly it was a very humbling experience.”
He added, “I managed to place third in the event and this is already massive for me especially when this sport has just been acknowledged recently by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) in Brunei Darussalam.”
He believed the importance of cross-training will improve individual overall athletic performance.
The national competitor conveyed his gratitude to his family, teammates, as well as the Brunei Adventure Racing Association’s president and team manager for their support throughout the journey.
