National level Al-Quran reading contest to begin on May 21

The National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults for 1445 Hijrah will be held for three nights, starting on May 21 at 7.30pm at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

Six qaris – Pengiran Muhd Amirul Aiman bin Pengiran Haji Marjuki, Haji Mohammad bin Ali, Haji Muhammad Fikri bin Haji Metussin, Haji Nasrul Fakhri bin Haji Yahya, Haji Hazwan bin Haji Salim, and Awangku Adi Nazri bin Pengiran Haji Jofri will compete for the top spots. The six qariahs competing for the top spots are Dayangku Fauziah Nadhirah binti Pengiran Haji Jofri, Dayangku Siti Ummi Syazana binti Pengiran Haji Marjuki, Dr Hajah Siti Wardah binti Major (Rtd) Haji Abdul Rahman, Amal Nazirah binti Haji Asmat, Najla Sabreena binti Haji Abdul Rajid, and Nur Amal Atiqah @ Aida binti Haji Sulaiman.

The theme for this year’s event is ‘Al-Quran, Pedomanku’.

The competition is co-organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB), Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings Sdn Bhd and Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd. – Azlan Othman
