National Islamic calligraphy winners awarded

Alomsa Nor Adzmin bin Haji Omar won first place in the open category of the National Level Islamic Calligraphy Competition followed by Muhammad Rizman bin Haji Usin second and Muhammad Azizi bin Haji Mohd Jamil third.

Haji Mohaammad Fajri bin Haji Idris and Mohammad Adiyusnira bin Haji Johari won the consolation prizes. Prizes were presented during a ceremony at the Centre of Islamic Calligraphy and Arts Studies of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (PPKKI-YSHHB) in Jalan Jerambak yesterday.

Meanwhile, Haji Mohammad Fajri bin Haji Idris won the male educator category followed by Muhammad Riziman second and Muhammad Azizi third. Four consolation prizes were awarded to Mohammad Adiyusnira, Mohammad Syafie bin Shahram, Mohammad Abdul Aji bin Haji Muslim and Muhammad Hamizan bin Begawan Mudim Haji Amran.

Siti Norajimah binti Haji Hamdani won the female educator category, while Norhanisah binti Haji Abdul Rani and Vivie Yanty binti Abdullah were placed second and third. Consolation prizes were presented to Hajah Zainab binti Haji Mahmud, Nurhazita binti Haji Metusin @ Haji Ismail, Hajah Siti Nasriah binti Yahya and Siti Nuramirah Syafiqah binti Mohd Juhari.

The competition, organised by Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah in conjunction with the 33rd Teacher’s Day celebration served to draw the interest of teachers to learn methods of Khat using the correct techniques as well as guide their students on the art. The competition was also aimed at identifying talented locals by allowing them to compete in national and international level as well as produce a community able to master the Islamic art.

Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Board of Governors at PPKKI-YSHHB, the guest of honour, presented prizes to the winners.

Ambassador of Turkiye to Brunei Darussalam Professor Dr Hamit Ersoy and spouse and Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak in her capacity as Acting Managing Director of Yayasan and Deputy Chairperson for PPKKI-YSHHB Board of Governors were also in attendance.

A Khattat at PPKKI-YSHHB Muhammad Syukri bin Haji Sulong delivered reviews of the competition as the representative of the competition’s panel of judges prior to the award ceremony. – Lyna Mohamad
