Fourteen players have been selected to represent the Brunei Darussalam national futsal team for the 2024 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Futsal Asian Cup qualification at the Khalifa Sports City Hall in Manama, Bahrain commencing October 7.
The players are Muhammad Nabil bin Haji Maidin, Abdul Azim bin Abdul Rahman, Mohammad Norazizam bin Roslan, Muhammad Izzan bin Zamain, Abu Suffian bin Haji Adanan, Awangku Muhammad Amirul Haziq bin Pengiran Kamshulzaman, Awangku Muhammad Idzzaham Aleshahmezan bin Pengiran Metali, Md Nasyrul Wafiy bin Haji Hassan, Awangku Muhammad Jumatatul Aleshahrezan bin Pengiran Metali, Nur Yamin bin Haji Muhammad, Haji Mohd Fardi Farhan bin Haji Affendi, Mohd Abdul Azim bin Zaini, Md Abi Syarilizam bin Sabtu and Abdul Malik bin Yunus.
The team will also be under the guidance of newly-appointed head coach Wahyu Triyanto.
Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) Executive Committee member Haji Md Noor bin Haji Hamid expressed hopes that the team will give a good fight to their group opponents.
He said during a sponsorship handover ceremony, “We hope the players can demonstrate a quality performance and are highly-spirited in facing teams which boast superior experience in futsal.”
The FABD official also conveyed his appreciation to the sponsors for providing the needs of players towards further advancing the development of the sport in the country.
The sponsors providing necessities to the national futsal team are HiTune Group of Companies, SBD Brunei and Balurih Travel Sdn Bhd. Meanwhile, Muharib.bn also provided discounted prices on players’ accessories. The national futsal team have been drawn in Group ‘F’ alongside group hosts Bahrain, Kuwait and Timor-Leste. – Fadhil Yunus
