The Mukim Liang Consultative Council (MPM) held a flag-hoisting ceremony to mark the start of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 78th birthday celebration, at the Liang Lumut Recreational Club (LLRC) yesterday.
Village head of Kampong Lumut II Haji Khairdon bin Haji Dahlan handed the flag to guest of honour, Penghulu of Mukim Liang Haji Mohamad Yamin bin Haji Abdul Ranni. The flag was distributed to Seni Warisan Pelangi Pencak Silat Group members to be hoisted, accompanied by the singing of the national anthem.
The event also saw a brief silat performance.
Meanwhile, a similar ceremony was also held in Mukim Kuala Belait at the RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque.
The ceremony, organised by the MPM Belait, was led by Penghulu of Mukim Belait Haji Abdul Afiq bin Zainuddin, who handed the national flag to students from Tunas Jaya PGGMB School to be hoisted. The event also saw the singing of the national anthem and the recitation of Doa Selamat. Meanwhile, Mukim Berakas ‘A’ and ‘B’ Zone 2 held the flag-hoisting ceremony at Community Hall 1 in RPN Kampong Lambak Kanan yesterday.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Doa Selamat and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam, led by Village Head of RPN Kampong Lambak Kanan Area 4 Haji Fazzly bin Haji Suhaili.
Kampong Sungai Tilong Village Consultative Council members hoisted the national flag, accompanied by the singing of the national anthem.
Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Daud bin Jihan was the guest of honour.
The Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (PPNBD) also held a similar ceremony at its headquarters on Monday.
The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the national flag, led by Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) rover scouts crew members and singing of the national anthem.
PPNBD’s president Dato Paduka Ar Haji Idris bin Haji Abas and chief commissioner Haji Junaidi bin Haji Hussin, along with national scout council members, scout commissioners, assistant commissioners, scout leaders and rover scouts were present. – Daniel Lim, James Kon & Rokiah Mahmud
