National Family Day forum empowers parents

In celebration of National Family Day 2024, MAWAR Association orchestrated a transformative initiative aimed at enriching parenting knowledge and skills among parents and prospective parents. The forum, titled “Building A Great Nation Starts from Home,” convened esteemed experts and eager participants at Dewan Seri Kerna, Seameo Voctech on Sunday.

The event, held under the theme “My Family, My Hope,” featured a comprehensive exploration of parenting strategies tailored to the various developmental stages of children. Consultant in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Dr Shaheen Zinna, alongside Assistant Professor specialising in promoting knowledge and language at UNISSA Dr Hajah Ummi Fa’izah, and Certified Occupational Therapist Marhazwani, made up the panel of distinguished speakers.

With a focus on children aged 0 to 18 years, the forum provided invaluable insights into fostering cognitive, emotional, and social development. Participants received guidance on mind-stimulating play, social interaction, establishing healthy routines, support in formal education, self-discipline, and open communication.

Central to the discussions was the pivotal role of parents in nurturing resilience and equipping children with essential life skills. The forum emphasised the importance of demonstrating coping strategies and fostering a supportive environment to ensure children grow into resilient and well-rounded individuals.

MAWAR Association expressed its hope that the forum would equip parents with the tools necessary to raise their children effectively and with love. By empowering families with invaluable parenting skills, the organisation envisions contributing to the development of a healthy and prosperous society.

The initiative garnered praise for its dedication to fostering stronger family units and promoting the holistic development of children.
