The executive committee of the 40th National Day celebration held their second meeting yesterday at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports building.
The meeting was a continuation of the first meeting, which shared the preparations for the celebration next year including the format of field performances, venue, the chief guests for the ceremonies, the celebration’s logo and theme and rehearsals.
The meeting began with a welcoming speech from Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, who detailed the preparations actively being implemented to ensure success. The minister said, “With a high spirit of patriotism and nationhood, and based on the whole-of-nation approach, consultation and agreement, we will be able to work together and join hands in ensuring the 40th National Day celebration next year will run smoothly, orderly, perfectly and prudently.”
Attending the meeting were Grand Chamberlain Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Penggawa Laila Bentara Istiadat Diraja Dalam Istana Pengiran Haji Alauddin bin Pengiran Paduka Tuan Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman and Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan and Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan as Deputy Co-Chair. – Azlan Othman
